Northern Racing College Open Day

The Northern Racing College is holding its annual Open Day on Sunday, 12th September 2010 and everyone is invited.

Set in the splendid grounds of Rossington Hall the day promises to appeal to a wide and varied audience. Whether you're nine or ninety years old, a novice rider or a seasoned professional there will be attractions, demonstrations and displays to set your pulse racing.

To provide you with a flavour of the day the programme will include:

  • A chance to see behind the scenes in the stable yard, meet the horses and pupils
  • Try being a jockey - have a go on the racehorse simulators
  • York Polo Club demonstration
  • Pony Racing demonstration
  • See the pupils put through their paces on the gallops
  • Racing personality show-jumping competition

To complement the riding demonstrations you'll have the chance to:

  • Watch an equine dentist at work
  • Feel the heat of the forge as our farrier goes about his work
  • Watch the pupils grooming and tacking up the orses

A range of refreshements will be available at the stable yard and the Visitor's Centre, and a variety of trade stands will provide ample opportunity to mooch and shop.

Representatives from racing organisations and clubs will be on hand to meet with you, and you never know you might even bump into a famous racehorse trainer or jockey who will happily sign your autograph book and have their photograph taken with you.
